Message from the Principal 9/20/2020

Good Evening Griffin Students and Families, this Russell Vernon

Principal of RECHS calling with updates for this week.

We are so excited to see some of our students this week!  Please be patient with us as we work through this first week of in-person classes, and follow the necessary protocols to protect the safety of our students and staff.  If you were unable to come to school last week, and sign your child’s attestation form, please print and sign a copy and send it to school with your child to present at the temperature check table.  A copy of the form is located here for your convenience - RCS Attestation Form

Students in Group A will participate in-school classes on Monday and Tuesday of each week, and will have virtual classes on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Students in Group B will participate in-school classes on Thursday and Friday of each week, and will have virtual classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Please know that our teachers and staff are working diligently to prepare for your return.   Just a reminder to everyone that school starts at 8:50 each morning and dismisses at 2:55.  Here are some reminders as we transition to Plan B:

  • Virtual and remote learners continue to follow your same schedule and log on each day.

  • Car riders can be dropped off at Whitcomb Student Center or at the RCC Gym to enter ADT.

  • Temperatures and health screenings will take place daily at the entrances of ADT, the library and the cafeteria.

  • Masks should be worn on the bus and campus daily.

  • Breakfast and lunch will be served daily at no cost.  Important information for students that pack your lunch on a daily basis, we want to make sure that you are aware that students will not have access to microwaves, so please make sure that the food that you pack for your child does not require a microwave.

  • Students will need to bring a water bottle.  RCC has turned off the water fountains to stop the spread of COVID-19.  Students the bottle fillers on campus are available for refills throughout the day.

Students, we are so excited to have you back on campus. RCS considers health and safety of the utmost importance.  As you will notice we have changed a few things on campus.  For example in both the library and ADT, you will enter up one set of steps and exit down another set of steps.  Please know that all staff members will be on hand to help you and answer any questions between class changes.

On Friday 9/25, the traditional schools have a digital learning day. This means that only shuttle buses will run for RECHS students. Students who need to ride the bus will need to be dropped off and picked up at their zonal school.  If your zonal school is  RCHS, dropping off here at RCC may be a closer and better choice.

Students interested in joining Battle of the Books? Battle of the books will continue to meet each Wednesday at 3 p.m. on Zoom. Email Ms. Potter for more information.

Thank you to our parents, students, staff and community members for your help as we transition to Plan B on Monday, September 21st.   We greatly appreciate your continued support of our school and students.

Have a great evening and I will see some of you face to face in the morning and some of you “virtually”.
