Message from the Principal 9/15/2021

9/15/2021

Good Evening Griffin Students and Parents,

This is Russell Vernon, principal of RECHS calling with three important reminders.

  1. Doughnut Fundraiser Pickup is Tomorrow- Parents and students that ordered doughnuts, please come to the main office (2nd floor of mezzanine) between 1 and 4 pm to pick up your orders. If a student only sold doughnut cards we can send those on the bus, however, dozens of doughnuts can not travel on the bus. Please come between 1 and 4 to pick up.

  1. FERPA FORMS

Across the District, there seems to have been some confusion regarding the FERPA Form we sent home with students. Question Number 1 states: Do you grant permission to allow directory information to be shared for non-commercial purposes?

A lot of parents marked NO to this question. However, a NO answer means your child's picture can not be in the yearbook, your child's name will not be on the published honor rolls for the paper and your child's name can not be called at any awards ceremony held by the school.

Given that some parents may not have known the impact of this question, we are sending home a second FERPA form for all students who answered NO to question number 1. We are asking parents to fill out the form again, now that they know this information. These forms need to be signed and returned to the school by Monday, September 20th. If the form is not returned by Monday, we will go with your first option and your child will be withheld from all items relating to this question.

  1. Transfer Forms for Freshmen and Transfer Students

Transfer forms were sent home with freshmen and transfer students this week. Every year new students to RECHS have to complete a transfer form in order to complete the transfer process from their zonal school. This is a formality and must be completed. Please read and sign page one front and back. Be sure to complete the signature item on the back of page 1. Please send these transfer forms back by Friday.

Please email me or any staff member with any questions.

That is all for now, have a great evening and we will see you all bright and early tomorrow morning.

This is a very important meeting, they will be discussing where you are with credits for your high school diploma and with your associate’s degree or college classes, including spring semester classes. Please do not miss this meeting as schedules are tight.
